The small town of Bad Bibra is located in the south of Saxony-Anhalt and is a state-approved resort. The city is not far from the state border with Thuringia in the valley of the Biberbach. The first mention of the city at the beginning of the 9th century is in a register of the goods of the Hersfeld monastery, built by Archbishop Lullus of Mainz († 786). Her name there is Bibraho.
In 1848, the city was one of the most important rebellion areas in Prussian Thuringia (Province of Saxony) during the revolution (German Revolution 1848/49). The former Bibra has been called Bad Bibra since 1925, after bathing tourism flourished again in the 19th century.
Laucha is a former street village on the old Langensalza-Freyburg-Merseburg military road. The name of the town comes from the Slavic language and refers to the former swamping of the Unstrut area. Worth mentioning is the town church of St. Marien, a late Gothic building from the 15th century with Romanesque remains (block frieze on the south-east side of the church). Today it is possible to navigate the Unstrut with paddle boats, rowing boats, canoes and motor boats.
