The small town of Bad Bibra is located in the south of Saxony-Anhalt and is a state-approved resort. The Beaver Stream flows through the city. The state border with the Free State of Thuringia is not far away. The first mention of the city at the beginning of the 9th century is in a list of the goods of the Hersfeld Monastery, built by Archbishop Lullus († 786) of Mainz. Her name there is Bibraho. Worth mentioning is the town church of St. Marien, a late Gothic building from the 15th century with Romanesque remains (block frieze on the south-east side of the church). In Dorndorf, the former Imperial Glider School is worth mentioning.
