Bad Bibra is a small town in southern Saxony-Anhalt and a state-approved resort. The city is not far from the state border with Thuringia in the valley of the Biberbach. The first mention of the city at the beginning of the 9th century is in a register of the goods of the Hersfeld monastery, built by Archbishop Lullus of Mainz († 786). Her name there is Bibraho. During the 1848 revolution (German Revolution 1848/49), the city was one of the most important rebellion areas in Prussian Thuringia (province of Saxony). In the 19th century, bathing tourism flourished again, and since 1925 the former Bibra has been called Bad Bibra. The former street village of Laucha is located on the old Langensalza-Freyburg-Merseburg military road. The name of the city comes from Slavic and means something like swampy terrain or swampy meadows . The sights include the town hall from 1543 with the double-barreled, covered outside staircase that was added later and old portals on the town houses.
